KADETFU was primarily registered under the Trustees Incorporation Ordnance Cap 375 of 1956. According to this law which governs its registration, the organization should not have membership as the law states, "All powers are vested unto Trustees". It works with affiliated community groups.  However, according to the new law (the NGOs Act of 2002; KADETFU has now obtained a Certificate of Compliance (CoC) which facilitates her mandate to expand its former area of operation to  all regions of Tanzania mainland. With this compliance, KADETFU is a membership oriented organization.  The founder members under the new law are 12 while the former partners such as the groups that KADETFU worked with, became members automatically.
